Rebuilding after a disaster

disaster

Hurricane Sandy resulted in tragedy for many people. It’s always shocking and tragic to hear about the aftermath in these situations. But as awful as these disasters are, it’s still amazing to hear about what people are capable of when it comes to personal determination in helping others – and themselves.

For example, Business Insider released this article today about how even though the New York City Marathon was cancelled, almost 2,000 people showed up to run anyways! There were runners from all over – including Europe. And, a bunch of runners boarded a ferry to Staten Island to help with relief efforts.

This goes to show that even though hurricanes are powerful, so are the spirits and the determination of the people affected by them. It’s important we remember to continue to help each other as well as ourselves. The energy we put into the world returns to us in some form. This is a truly inspiring story!
